Frequently Asked Questions

One base. Endless covers. Infinite moods.

Swaplights are designed around a simple idea: a single plug-in base that pairs with interchangeable decorative covers you can pop on and off in seconds.

How it works

  1. Start with a base. All Swaplights kits have a plug-in night light included in the box. You can also purchase additional night lights here. It plugs into any standard US outlet and turns on automatically when it gets dark.
  2. Choose a cover. All kits come with one cover to start your collection. Add more covers to swap out for different seasons, holidays or interests. Each cover is laser-cut and hand-assembled right here in Seattle.
  3. Snap it on. Hook the cover over the front of the base and slide down gently until it clicks into place. That's it!

Cover compatibility

All Swaplights covers are designed to fit the standard Swaplights night light base. If your base was purchased from Swaplights, any cover in our shop will fit it.

Note: Swaplights covers are not compatible with third-party night light bases.

Care instructions

  • Wipe covers gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners.
  • Store spare covers in the original box or bubble sleeve in a cool, dry place to protect the printed designs and delicate silhouette cutouts.
  • Do not submerge the base or covers in water.

Frequently asked questions

How bright is the light?
The brightness level depends on the cover you choose. If there is a lot of white in the printed background, more light will shine through. Larger silhouettes block more of the light.

Does the light get hot?
Nope! The Swaplights night light uses an LED bulb that does not emit any heat, so it stays cool to the touch even when left on 24/7.

How are the covers made?
Every patent-pending cover design is laser-cut, 3D and UV printed, and assembled by hand in Seattle, Washington.
